BACKGROUND

TechData, the no 1 IT product distributor in the Nordic countries, is a fine-tuned marketing machine. With fall comes another sales campaign, just like clockwork. The sixth consecutive one with Houdini at the helm.

CHALLENGE

After five interactive, fun game-oriented campaigns Tech Data and new markting exec Magnus Berlin decided to try a different recipe for their recurring sales campaigns: a slightly more traditional campaign site with a travel theme: Destination Dubai! At the heart is a contest where IT retailers compete to win tickets to Dubai, all expenses paid. The challenge was to get as many manufacturers on board and allow them full customization of their campaign presence, while still enticing the retailers to log their purchases with Tech Data to increase their chances of winning.

RESULT

Houdini delivered an immersive campaign site with a strong oriental flavour, shaped in the metaphor of a travel catalogue. Users flip through the catalogue to check out the current competition standings and learn what they can do to increase their chances of winning those coveted tickets. The spicy experience is heightened by a funky oriental music theme, as vibrantly ethnic and instantly dancable as ever Tarkan or Ofra Haza. Plus, you get to check out the many magnificent sights of Dubai through the magic of streaming video too!
